Things to do in Leavenworth ~ 4th of July Weekend!

We have had a close relationship with Orion Expeditions since Northwest Mountain School was founded in 1994.  We called over to their office this morning and confirmed that they still have space daily between July 4th and July 8th, the last day of this long 4th of July holiday.

Things to do in Leavenworth over the 4th of July weekend:

Rock Climbing
Join the Northwest Mountain School for a half day (5 hours) or full day (8 hours) of rock climbing in beautiful Icicle Creek Canyon.  Early in the week we would recommend half or full days starting just about anytime you want to go.  As the temps start to rise, we would encourage you to consider a half-day of climbing starting in the morning and ending as things start to warm-up in the afternoon.  If you are really motivated it is possible to climb in the morning and raft in the afternoon.  Cost is based on group size and ratio of guides to climbers and ranges from $75 to $295 per climber.  Our website is here: Leavenworth Climbing Guides

We also have the following set-date programs

Rafting
Raft the mighty Wenatchee River with Orion Expeditions.  Not sure what to expect?  This recent video will give you an idea of what the trip could be like: Rafting the Wenatchee River Orion charges around $70 per person for this classic class III+ river descent.  They also have discounts available for groups of 10 or more. Orion can be reached at 509-548-1401.  Their website is here: Orion Expeditions.

Mountain Biking
Leavenworth has a variety of fantastic mountain bike trails.  A very good starting ride is Freund Canyon (12 miles with 1,175 feet of elevation gain), a two-hour loop close to town.  If you are looking for something longer and more difficult, the local classic at this time of year is Fourth of July Creek to Icicle Ridge (20 miles with 5000 feet of elevation gain!).  You can rent bikes and get up to date trail information at Das Rad Haus just behind Dan's market in Leavenworth.

Stevens Pass Bike Park
Stevens Pass Bike park will open on July 6th!  This is a new local opportunity for downhill enthusiasts.  Ride the chair to the top and then bike down.  Stevens can be reached at 206-812-4510 and more info on the bike park is at: Stevens Pass Bike Park  There is also a good video here  I could not figure out what a daily pass costs, but opening day should be a blast!

Come evening it is time to eat!  Being a festival town, Leavenworth is well set-up to accommodate the expected deluge of people that will roll into town for the weekend.  For the past 20 years the classic spot to eat after a big day in the mountains or on the river has been Gustav's.  In the past 10 years these options have wildly expanded and here are a few of the spots that we eat on a regular basis.
