Seattle Rock Climbing Courses ~ NEW!

Exit 38 - Deception Crags, is one of the first places that the Northwest Mountain School started teaching rock climbing back when we began in 1994.  We are once again offering introductory rock climbing courses and clinics at this excellent crag in order to more thoroughly service our Seattle area customers.

These programs will follow the same pricing structure as our Leavenworth Rock Guides program, and we will offer many of the same course formats.

Exit 38 - Deception Crags is located along I-90, just 45 minutes from downtown Seattle.  This is primarily a bolted sport climbing area and as a result courses offered here will tend to be more focused on introductory programs such as Introduction to Outdoor Climbing, Sport Climbing Technique, and group climbing programs.  This is also a good venue for tightly focused skill development programs such as Improvised Rock Rescue, and Anchors Clinics.

About the Northwest Mountain School:  The Northwest Mountain School has been in continuous operation since 1994 and is owned and operated by IFMGA Guides John and Olivia Race.

Our website lists full details on our Seattle Rock Climbing Classes.  Also feel free to contact our office at 509-548-5823 for more details.

Free NMS Patagonia Ultralight Down Hoody

if you register for a set-date Mountaineering Course between now and June 15

Spring is the best time of year - we have ski trips, rock trips, a Denali expedition and alpine climbs in the Cascades all underway. It is also the time of year when our new guide uniforms arrive.

We have been partnered with Patagonia through their Pataguides program since 2004 and we love their gear! We are even more excited than usual about the Ultralight Down Hoodies that are part of our 2012 guide uniform.

We would like to share the love - so we will send an embroidered Ultralight Down Hoody (men's or women's in any color currently available through Patagonia) to anyone who registers by midnight on June 15 for one of our set date Mountaineering courses or expeditions. We think you will find this a super useful layer for your climb, as well as for around town.

To get your jacket, simply register for one of our set date mountaineering or expedition programs by midnight on June 15 and we will order a jacket in your size and have it embroidered with the Northwest Mountain School logo.

Here are some photos from our first Haute Route trip of the season.  I will develop this into a more detailed trip report, but wanted to get them up so that people could see route conditions and share the experience.  We have more trips going in 2012 if you are looking for a good trip.  Full trip details at: Haute Route Ski Tour.

Thanks to everyone for a great trip!
